Our Vision

SCROLL DOWN

Our Vision

Boaz Commons will be a family—a place where friendships go a step further into the tight-knit community that cares for and challenges each other like brothers and sisters and a place where Boaz residents, affiliates, and alumni can always call their home-base.

our Diversity Statement

our Diversity Statement

Boaz Commons embraces with open arms people from all walks of life. Consistent with our five core values, we promote a culture that intentionally focuses on community events and engagement, personal growth, and a comfortable, home-like environment free of negativity and hostility as a result of prejudice and cultural bias.

Community

Community

Members of Boaz are expected to work towards mutual understanding and respect for one another, so we can grow together in a supportive and welcoming environment. We strive to create a sense of togetherness through our activities and shared experiences.

Compassion

Compassion

Residents of Boaz care for the well-being of their fellow residents and all SMU students. Furthermore, Boaz residents are empathetic and take action to address the academic, emotional, and physical needs of those around them.

Integrity

Integrity

Boaz holds integrity as a value in and outside the classroom. Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.  Integrity looks like not vandalizing school property, picking up a $100 dollar bill and turning it in to lost and found, and picking up a piece of trash and putting it in the trash can.

Zeal

Zeal

Residents are passionate and excited about being a part of the Boaz community. This enthusiasm allows for residents to build stronger bonds with each other, seek involvement within Boaz, and ultimately create a true sense of pride for those who are a part of the Boaz Residential Commons.

Mentorship

Mentorship

We expect the second-year (and beyond) residents in Boaz to lead and set good examples for our first-year residents.  Be proactive and seek out those in the Commons who may need help.  Be welcoming and freely offer your help.  Lead by example.  Those you help will be our future mentors.
